On Dec 3 the Annual General Meeting was held where a new president and committee of the Highett Football Netball club were elected.
Firstly we would like to thank Lex Marshall, Tony Hoar and Richard Boyce who have served on the committee in the last few years. We also remembers Terry O’Keefe, who was still on the club committee until his recent passing.
We have expanded the committee and defined several new roles that will take ownership of different facets of the running of the Highett FNC.
The new president is Daniel Booth, who is well known to everyone. The Presidents role is to lead setting the direction of the club, to be the figurehead of the club internally and externally.
The secretary is Martin Burke. This role ensures the clubs administration is done according to league and community organization standards, and oversees communications, social media, club website and online presence and football and netball administration.
The treasurer is Graham Dudley. The treasurer is responsible for ensuring the clubs finances are run properly and we have a solid financial position, creditors are paid, cash is managed from various sources (canteen, bar) and appropriate budgets are set aligned with the Club President.
The Junior Vice President is Jason McGrath. This role is the head of the Junior side of the club that plays in the South Metro Junior Football League and all functions associated with the junior teams. He is supported by a separate junior committee.
We also have some new roles we have identified as necessary for the success and sustainability of the club.
Elijah Shawcroft is the Head of Revenue. A sporting club such as ours has several revenue streams that provide the necessary funds. These include Sponsorships, Player Subs, Membership, Grants and Fundraising. He will be supported by other committee members and club members in driving these initiatives.
Mark Prosser is Head of Facilities. This role oversees the areas covering the Turner Rd location, including the clubrooms, bar and canteen, cleaning and maintenance, line marking and liaising with the different parties that we share the facility with.
Mick Aldridge is Head of Football & Netball Operations. This is the primary interface between the committee and the coaching and support staff (ie trainers, team managers). This also includes the role of List Manager, who will oversee recruiting and contracts for our senior list. Damien Straford is our list manager.
Beau Jedd heads our social committee. The Social side of the club is extremely important for connection and community.
The above roles will be supported by other committee members who were elected at the AGM.
As you can see, this is a larger and significantly younger and more diverse committee than we have had in the past. We are very excited with what the future holds for the club. Get on board and support Boothy and the committee.
